With 147 million shoppers expected to hit the stores this weekend, according to the National Retail Federation, it’s time to start saving money with your smartphone. Don’t head for the stores without first downloading these six apps:
1. Finding Your Way Around the Mall
When you’re in the mall and don’t know how get to your favorite store, the free FastMall app will give you walking directions within the mall. And if you shake the phone, the app will find the nearest restrooms.
2. Black Friday Deals
Use the TGI Black Friday app (free) to look at the Black Friday ads from major retailers. You can even search for popular Black Friday items by category. The app lets you know when there are new adds!
3. Get Points When You Enter the Store
Simply walk in to a Target, Best Buy or Macy’s and you’ll accumulate points using the free ShopKick app. There’s no need to buy anything – a sensor is located in the store that causes points to accumulate when you walk in. You can use these points for a free latte at Starbucks, a Target gift card and other freebies!
4. Customer Reviews of Items
Simply scan the bar code of any item in the store and the free SnapTell app will instantly find reviews and ratings from past customers who already own that item.
5. Tracking How Much You Spend On Gifts
The Santa’s Bag app lets users keep track of how much money they spend on gifts for each person on their shopping list. Simply enter in the names of friends and family – or whoever you plan to buy holiday gifts for – and store gift receipts and be in the know of how much you’re spending. Price: 99 cents
6. Not Sure What Gifts to Buy?
